With Christmas just around the corner I’ve been creating a list of movies that I must watch this holiday season. As I excitedly chat with friends and acquaintances about many of my favorites, I am often surprised (and disappointed) to hear that they’ve never seen them, or worse, have never heard of them.
“I played in the snow instead of watching TV,” some tell me. As you can tell, many of my friends aren’t from Vancouver. Locals know that snow that sticks here is sparse, and we’re left with dirty slush that’s not so fun to play in. When the wondrous white flakes fall, I rejoice and frolic, but for the usual chilly, often rainy days, there is nothing I’d rather do then curl up in a blanket and numb my first world problems with a good flick. Which leads to my list of my favorite holiday movies, from classics to newbies.
I like them all for different reasons and can’t distinguish my number one favorite from my tenth favorite, so in alphabetical order here are my picks.
- A Charlie Brown Christmas
- A Christmas Carol (1984)
- A Christmas Story
- Bad Santa
- Home Alone
- How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
- It’s a Wonderful Life
- Jack Frost
- Jingle All The Way
- Love Actually
- Miracle on 34th Street
- The Nightmare Before Christmas
- *The Polar Express 4D*
